Boyd Goodloe

Youth Director

In November 2002, Boyd became Director of Youth Ministry at St. Luke's UMC, Houston
where he served through June 2007 before returning home to Lubbock. While at St. Luke's, Boyd implemented a Youth Ministry Intern Program where four college or post-college interns served as part of the Youth Ministry team to become trained for full-time ministry with Youth.

Boyd served as District Youth Ministry Coordinator, was member of TYME, served on various
Texas Conference Task Forces for Youth Ministry & Youth Camping at Lakeview, and joined the National Program Team for U.M. ARMY.In 2004, Boyd was elected to U.M. ARMY-National Board of Directors as National Program Coordinator. He has worked each year to develop the National Program theme and materials and train Program Coordinators for all U.M. ARMY camps (including Solid Ground, Faith Works, Full Armor of God, Life Savers, Transformers, First Love, Surrender and Servant). In 2005, he was elected National Vice President and President-Elect in 2007. Boyd has served as U.M. ARMY-National President since October 2008.

Boyd is married to Julie who is a Language Arts Teacher at Coronado High School. Boyd & Julie have two children, Curran (18) and Luke (5th Grader at Murfee Elementary)and two dogs (Comet & Prancer).

Boyd enjoys golf (when he can fit it in), football (Go Tech!), cooking, and travel. Boyd was born in Lubbock, lived in San Antonio through 5th grade and then returned to Lubbock in 1976.

He attended Nat Williams Elementary, Evans Junior High, Lubbock High School and Texas Tech University.Boyd graduated in 1989 from Texas Tech University with a B.B.A. in Finance and Marketing. He has completed studies in Youth Ministry Certification at Perkins School of Theology at SMU, Perkins School of Youth Ministry and other Continuing Education events. He has taught at the Greater Houston Leadership & Education School (GHLES), Lay Speaking Academy for Youth, Covenant College, Annual Conference, U.M. ARMY Volunteer Development Conference, and the Conference on Large Church Initiative.Boyd currently serves as Co-Director of Vision Camp at Ceta Canyon for High School Students.

Boyd Goodloe has served at First UMC as Director of Youth Ministry since July 2007. He served as Associate Director at First UMC from 1995 to 1998. In 1998, he became Director of Youth Ministry at John Wesley UMC, Houston where he served until November 2002. While at John Wesley UMC, Boyd helped found JUMMP (Junior high United Methodist Mission Project), Co-Directed Texas Conference Mid-Winter Camps at Lakeview, developed curriculum for Summer Camps at Lakeview and served as the Treasurer for Volunteer Services State Council (MHMR).

Lauren Day

Administrative Coordinator

Lauren Day has served at First UMC as Administrative Coordinator for Youth Ministry since June 2011. She is currently completing her Master's of Science degree in Counseling at Lubbock Christian University, and completed her undergraduate degree at Texas Tech (Wreck Em!!) with a Bachelor's in Psychology.

She has worked in ministry for several years at churches in Houston and Lubbock with children's ministry, youth ministry and college ministry. She also is passionate about camping ministry and had worked with a Christian Camp & Retreat Center in Huntsville, TX for many years. Lauren has done a lot of traveling, and hopes to serve in the mission field in the future.
